Take the kids on a hike for a day of fitness and fun
A hike with the kids is a great way to enjoy some quality family time together while staying active. Kids young and old love to explore. What better way to fulfill the adventure kids crave than with a hike that gets everybody off the couch and into the fresh air.
Many parents today are frustrated by the lack of enthusiasm kids show to get outside and play. The fact that kids would rather sit inside and play video games is a point of contention in many households. Parents have to take the initiative to create something fun and exciting that will keep the kids entertained. A good fitness plan does not mean the kids must be subjected to grueling hours on the treadmill everyday. Make it fun and they will be more likely to want to do it again.
The hike could be an all day adventure or just a couple of hours. Pack a picnic lunch to give the kids something to look forward to. If a picnic lunch is too much to carry, make sure to pack a few snacks and bottled water. Kids have a much faster metabolism and will likely become hungry long before the adults.
Plan out several nature games that will help the kids stay focused. Maybe even give rewards for the winner of each game. Set a pace that is not too hard and the kids will be more likely to enjoy their adventure into the great outdoors. Soon, their friends will be asking to come along.
